There have been more than 1,500 scholars from 93 countries accepted by this program. MOFA Taiwan Fellowship, echoing the APEC Scholarship Initiative, provides 12 Chinese Taipei APEC Fellowship openings per year exclusively for scholars and experts from developing APEC economies.

Benefits of MOFA Taiwan Fellowship
There is many benefits of MOFA Taiwan Fellowship. The Fellowship will support each successful recipient with the following:
- There is no fee of application
- Monthly grant will be paid at the beginning of the every month.
- Professors, Associate Professors, Research Fellow, or Associate Research Fellow will be received the amount NT$60,000.
- Assistant Professors, Assistant Research Fellows, or Doctoral Candidates will received the amount of NT$50,000.
- Provide the one round trip, economy class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan. The subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations.
- The duration of fellowship will be 3 to 12 months.
- Accident insurance and medical insurance for accidental injuries will be NT $1 million.

Eligibility Criteria of MOFA Taiwan Fellowship
There is general requirements for the eligibility criteria of MOFA Taiwan Fellowship. Criteria is listed below:
- Candidate must be citizens of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member countries.
- Candidates must be Foreign Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Post doctoral researchers and doctoral students.
- Research Fellows of Overseas Educational Institutions are also welcome to apply.
- Applicants must have specialization in humanities related to social sciences or Taiwan, cross street relations, mainland China, Asia Pacific and Chinese studies.
- Candidates who have excellent academic records will be preferred.
- Must be motivated and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Should be excellent communication and research skills
